Conformation

All terriers are judged on the JRTCA breed standard, except Child/Youth handlers where conformation is not considered and judging is based on the handler's ability. All terriers must be exhibited on lead. Cross-entering is not permitted between the Open Section and the Working Section. JRTCA Working Conformation is open to any JRTCA-registered terrier owned by a JRTCA member which holds a JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificate (NHC). A copy of the NHC certificate must be submitted with pre-entry or presented in the ring at time of judging.

Open to dam with at least two, but not more than three offspring at parent's side. Judged on Breed Standard and consistency of type.

Class 36:

Best family & reserve

Open to 1st and 2nd place winners of Stud Dog and Get and Brood Bitch and Produce. No entry fee.

Class 37:

Three Generations

Open to a minimum of three successive generations of breeding; the second and successive generations must be bred by the exhibitor.

Family Working Class
Open to Working Stud Dogs and Working Brood Bitches with at least two, but no more than three adult working offspring at side.  All terriers in the ring in this class must have earned and received one or more JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificates

Go-to-Ground

A timed event that simulates the terrier's natural instinct to hunt. The terrier enters an artificial den/tunnel to demonstrate its working ability. Schooling prior to the competition is not permitted. Any violation of this rule shall result in disqualification from the Go-To-Ground competition at this trial. For all classes: work is defined as baying, digging, concentrated stare, whining or biting at the bars. A break in work is defined as ceasing to work for a period of more than ten seconds. Leaving the quarry is defined as moving back in the tunnel away from quarry and out of the view of the judge. The judge may halt the work, if the judge believes the terrier is injuring itself. Copies of JRTCA trial certificate must be submitted with pre-entries or presented to the den steward at the time of judging. Cross entering is not permitted between certificate classes.

Class 101:

Pre-novice puppy

Open to Jack Russell puppies 4 up to 6 months. Entry in Pre-Novice Puppy class does not affect the puppy's eligibility to enter the Novice Class after 6 months of age. (One minute to reach quarry; may leave earth and re-enter until quarry is reached; mark quarry for 15 seconds without a break in work and without leaving quarry. Open to Jack Russells one year of age or older which have not scored 100% in this class at a previous JRTCA trial. Agility

Agility for Jack Russell Terriers is Sanctioned by the JRTCA and JRTCA Agility rules.

Agility I Certificate: Off Lead

Time 1.75+10%. Handlers may remain in this class. Open to any adult terriers The Agility I Certificates are earned with three scores of 190 or above. Three qualifying scores may move entrant of this class on to Agility II, Agility III, and Jumpers/Game. No cross entering to this class from Agility II and Agility III. This course is used for the Youth On-Lead. No seesaw or tirejump in this class.

Class 131:

Agility I Certificate: Off-Lead 10.0" up to 12.5"

Class 132:

Agility I Certificate: Off-Lead 12.5" up to 15.0"

Class 133:

Veterans Agility I Certificate

Time 2.25+10%. More difficult course to include all of the Agility I equipment plus two more hurdles, weave poles, and seesaw. Qualifying Score of 190 or better earns one leg towards JRTCA Agility II Certificate.

Class 140:

Jumpers/Game: Off Lead

Five faults for running course on-lead. Five faults for knocked bar, and off-course. Fifteen faults for a missed obstacle. Time YPS 1.50 Open to any adult terriers that have not scored above 190 points. This class is for the true beginner terrier with the intent of a pleasant experience on the basic agility equipment. Handlers that drag their terriers around will be seriously faulted. Course to include ramps, tunnels, and various hurdles. (Although this class is for the beginner terrier, you need to have prior exposure to agility equipment.) May be split by height. Non-Certificate. Handlers may remain in this class. May not enter in Off-Lead Classes at this trial. This course is also used for the Youth On-Lead class.

Agility High Score Champion & Reserve

To be awarded to the high score terrier and runner up combining scores of Agility II and Agility III and qualifying no fault score in Jumpers/Game. No entry fee.

Stable Hunt – Non Sanctioned

This timed event challenges the abilities of the terrier and handler team to locate live rats enclosed in one or more tubes on a straw-bale course. (Non-Sanctioned Division) Rookie Stable Hunt - Competitors will have two minutes to find one live rat on a course that will have three live rat tubes, two rat litter tubes, and one clean (empty) tube. Hot Shot Stable Hunt - Competitors will have three minutes to find all (three) live rats on a course that will have three live rat tubes, two rat litter tubes, and one clean (empty) tube.

Rookie Stable Hunt

Competitors will have two minutes to find one live rat tube on a course that will also have two tubes filled with rat litter and two clean (empty) tubes.

Hotshot Stable Hunt

Competitors will have three minutes to find two live rat tubes on a course that will also have two tubes filled with rat litter and one clean (empty) tube.

Brush Hunt – Non Sanctioned

Brush hunt is an above-ground hunting simulation held in a fenced area. One camouflaged rat tube is hidden within the brush area. The challenge is for the terrier to use natural instincts to successfully locate and work the quarry. Terrier must work to find the quarry in the shortest amount of time. The clock starts when the judge is ready and signals you to release your dog at the gate. All four paws must be on the ground before you release your dog. The judge stops the clock when your dog has found the tube. You do not enter with the dog but you can encourage your dog verbally. No hand signals allowed. The dog must locate the tube to have a qualifying time. No cross-entering between classes. Maximum time allowed is two minutes. (Non-Sanctioned Division)

Lure Coursing – Non Sanctioned

This is a timed event in which the terrier chases a lure in an enclosed fenced course. Each class entry will include 2 runs. All runs must be run back to back. Enter as many times as you like, however only your best of two runs will be considered for ribbon placement. All other runs considered fun runs. (Non-Sanctioned Division).

Thunder Tunnel – Non Sanctioned

A fun and interactive tunnel with one side open for viewing your terrier. Tunnels will have with dips, turns & obstacles along the way for your terrier to maneuver around and over. The fastest time from each day is eligible for High Point/Reserve. (Non-Sanctioned Division)

Your highest point from one class on Saturday in each of the following divisions-Conformation, Racing, Youth, Go to Ground, Super Earth, Agility, Trailing & Locating and Stable Hunt will be used toward your accumulated points. Points are:

1 point - youth/child class participation;

1 point - participation if no ribbon is earned;

2 points - JRTCA Natural Hunting Certificate (must show certificate);

2 points - sixth place;

3 points - fifth place;

4 points - fourth place;

5 points - third place;

6 points - second place;

7 points - first place;

8 points - reserve champion;

9 points - champion.
